1st day of competition auditions 27.11.2023
From 26 November to 2 December 2023, the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław hosted the first edition of the Karol Lipiński International Violin Competition. The competition brought together 19 young violinists from all over the world, who, having passed the preliminaries, were invited to compete directly and present their skills during the three stages of the tournament.
The performances of young artists were judged by a Jury consisting of internationally renowned musicians and educators: prof. dr hab. Konstanty Andrzej Kulka (chairman of the Jury), prof. dr hab. Bartosz Bryła, prof. Florin Croitoru, dr hab. Paweł Jabłczyński, prof. AMKL, prof. dr hab. Jarosław Pietrzak. The role of Secretary of the Jury was performed by Magdalena Ziarkowska-Kołacka PhD.
In the first stage of the competition we had the opportunity to hear an excellent group of young violinists, including: Wojciech Chmielewski (Poland), Jialin Ding (China), Julia Grabska (Poland), Yuichiro Haruno (Japan), Michał Krajewski (Poland), Piotr Lasota (Poland), Youngmin Lee (South Korea), Tina Lin (Taiwan), Igor Makarski (Poland), Sunjae Ok (South Korea), Inhee Park (South Korea), Hee Jin Park (Australia), Małgorzata Pasierbska (Poland), Karolina Podorska (Poland), Reika Sato (Japan), Steven Song (United States), Misaki Tanaka (Japan), Gaja Wilewska (Poland), Barbara Żołnierczyk (Poland). The participants presented a programme including:
- one of the Caprices Op. 1 by Niccolò Paganini, excluding Caprices Nos. 13, 14, 16 and 20;
- one of Henryk Wieniawski's Caprices Op. 10 excluding Caprice No. 1 or one of Karol Lipiński's Caprices Op. 29;
- one of the Fugues with the preceding movement from Sonatas BWV 1001, 1003, 1005 by Johann Sebastian Bach, or the Ciaccona from Partita BWV 1004 by the same composer.
