National Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference "Who is an Artist? Faces of artistic identity in the modern world"
On December 6-7, 2024, the National Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference "Who is an Artist? Faces of artistic identity in the modern world".
The idea for the thematic area was born from the need to take action in the direction of trying to solve the identity dilemmas of the young artist. The alarming phenomenon of increasing fear of social exposure, identity confusion and unstable sense of being an artist, observed today, is a cause for in-depth scientific reflection. The project included speeches by representatives of academia, the art community, business and workshops aimed at young artists.
The thematic scope of the active participants' speeches concerned issues such as:
- Identity as a multifaceted issue.
- Faces of the artist in the light of scientific research.
- The development of artistic identity in the experience of representatives of different areas of art (music, visual arts, acting, dance and others).
- The sense of meaning of being an artist in scientific reflection.
- Formation of artistic identity among young people.
- Art therapy and artistic identity in communities of people with disabilities.
The program of the conference included papers, presentations and workshops, which made it possible to look at the topic of artistic identity from different perspectives: a student, a student, a teacher, an artist-professional and an entrepreneur with an artistic soul.
The conference included the presentation of the Immersion interactive audiovisual installation by the Random Check Media Ensemble (RCME), which is a tiny fragment of the much larger multimedia project Matching Components, which premiered as part of the 67th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
Immersion is a kind of audiovisual instrument controlled by precise hand gestures. More about RCME and other projects: https://randomcheck.asp.wroc.pl
