The 11th Student Research Conference “The Ambiguity of Sound” will be held at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław on May 6-7, 2025.

From its very beginnings, the Ambiguity of Sound has been oriented towards interdisciplinarity, thanks to which the topics discussed during the conference enable the presentation of a variety of research on sound and music creation. The motto of the 2025 edition is Generationality in Music. With this, the organizers want to turn to the issues of the identity of the creators and audiences of a musical work, the changes occurring in the sound space with successive generations, the understanding of sound and music across the eras.

The event will also be accompanied by composition concerts presenting the works of young composers from Wroclaw, during which the performers will be conductors, instrumentalists and singers (students of AMKL). Also planned is a panel discussion entitled Which Way is the Way? with the participation of artists representing different generations and artistic interests, concerning contemporary dilemmas of compositional creativity. The event is part of the project Quo vadis, musica? - between mission and duty in the context of the third millennium, subsidized by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture.

The conference is open to students, postgraduates and graduate students of music theory, musicology and other scientific fields related to the topic of the event.

Forms of participation:
Active participation - speakers present papers (max. 25 minutes with discussion), receive conference materials and a certificate.
Passive participation - listeners have access to all conference events and receive conference materials and a certificate.

Submission rules:
Active participation - submission up to and including April 7, 2025 (with the title of the speech and abstract).
Passive participation - submission by April 28, 2025.

Fees:
Active participation - 60 PLN (free for students and doctoral students of the Academy of Music in Wrocław).
Passive participation - free of charge.
The fee should be paid by bank transfer by April 16, 2025.
