Traditions of Silesian musical culture
We present to you the sixteenth volume of the monograph entitled Traditions of Silesian musical culture, which was published by the Publishing House of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wroclaw. The sixteenth volume of the monograph entitled Traditions of Silesian Musical Culture is offered to readers with the aim to document the richness and diversity of musical culture in the Silesian region. This diversity stems from the overlapping of various sources of tradition originating from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Poland. The volume contains 24 articles by an international group of researchers from these countries, who are outstanding experts on Silesian musical culture. The thematically diverse texts have been grouped into seven sections concerning the issues of intercultural dialogue, musicians connected with Silesia from the 17th to the 20th century, musical life in Silesia, the works of Silesian composers – including Wrocław-based artists – in the 20th and 21st centuries, musical instruments and folk music. We hope that the wide range of issues under discussion and the identification of hitherto unexplored aspects of Silesian culture will contribute to the value of this publication and help to enrich our knowledge of the Silesian region.
